It’s our job every day to make every important aspect of the customer experience a little bit better.
Jeff Bezos
What if we property owners listened to Mr. Bezos?
For one, we’d have less exclamation points.
It’s hard to find NO on the Amazon website.
Customer experience wasn’t the first thought here.
Or here.
My guess is Amazon encourages both loitering and prowling on their site.
We real estate owners focus on removing fun from our properties.
We let you know you’re not trusted.
And do our best to discourage customers.
We make sure you’re belittled.
The rules for some shopping experiences aren’t much different than attending municipal court.
But some retailers do it better.
Of course we can all learn from Dolly.
Some people are morons and require signs to alert them to their condition.
But there is a better way.
Even barricades can be fun.
And signs can be delightful.
Imagine if this sign was more widespread.
Even our company has much to learn, including the spelling of my name.
Maybe we property owners should re-think our sign policies and instead seek ways to make our customers’ experience a little bit better.
Couldn’t agree with you more! So many ways to communicate and property owners insist on using the most offensive words they can get away with. Imagine if we assumed that the majority of our visitors had good sense and languaged our messages for them instead of the handful of dumbasses that will surely act from their unfortunate state regardless of what the signs say.
